CASE FILE 02 / From legacy ETL to managed platformsPlatform modernisation

Modernisation is a sequence of decisions.

1,000+ legacy ETL jobs migrated to AWS / Airflow, with ongoing evolution toward Databricks.

MY ROLE
Migration lead; contributor to ongoing Databricks modernisation
ENGAGEMENT
Enterprise client engagement through TCS
STATUS
AWS / Airflow complete · Databricks in progress
01 / CONTEXT & OWNERSHIP

The challenge behind the platform.

A large Talend ETL estate needed more maintainable orchestration and reusable cloud engineering patterns.

My contribution

Led the migration of 1,000+ Talend jobs to an AWS-based Airflow framework. Currently supporting the next stage of platform modernisation toward Databricks.

Conceptual flow · Simplified from documented project scope
01

Moved legacy ETL workloads into an AWS-based Apache Airflow framework.

02

Established reusable pipeline patterns and engineering standards for production workloads.

03

Supported team capability through mentoring and code reviews.

04

Now supporting the evolution of orchestration and processing toward managed Databricks capabilities.

03 / EXECUTION

From design to delivery.

Combined ETL leadership, complex SQL development and warehouse modelling with cloud-framework delivery. The next platform phase is an ongoing contribution rather than a completed migration claim.

04 / OUTCOME & EVIDENCE
1,000+Talend ETL jobs migrated to AWS / Airflow

Completed migration of 1,000+ ETL jobs to AWS / Airflow. The subsequent Databricks initiative is in progress; no completion or performance claims are made for that phase.
